At Transform Martial Arts we teach the ATA's Songahm Taekwondo curriculum - a rank-by-rank system of forms, one-steps, self-defense, sparring, and weapons that has developed black belts for decades.

Every class in North Port follows the same standard: warm up, character lesson, skill of the day, forms training, sparring, and a high-energy finish. Students learn technique and control, and they build the confidence, focus, and resilience that show up in school, at work, and at home.

Where can I train Taekwondo in North Port, FL?

    +

Transform Martial Arts is an ATA Songahm Taekwondo academy in North Port, Florida, located at 14889 Tamiami Trail. We teach Songahm Taekwondo - forms, kicking, self-defense, sparring, and weapons - to kids ages 4 and up, teens, and adults. The academy is led by Brooke Bairos, a 6th Degree Black Belt and ATA Master Instructor.

    What is Songahm Taekwondo?

    +

Songahm Taekwondo is the curriculum of the ATA (American Taekwondo Association) - a structured, rank-by-rank system built around forms, one-steps, self-defense, sparring, and weapons. Every belt has clearly defined standards, so students always know what they are working toward and why.

    Is Taekwondo safe for kids?

    +

Yes. Classes are structured for safety: age-appropriate drills, controlled partner work, and full protective gear for sparring. Beginners spend their time on stance, balance, kicking mechanics, and control long before sparring is introduced. The result is confidence and respect, not aggression.

What ages can start Taekwondo at Transform?

    +

We start athletes as young as 4 in our Tigers class with foundational movement, listening skills, and basic kicks. Ages 8–12 build full Songahm forms, sparring, and competitive discipline. Teens & Adults (13+) train the complete curriculum with serious conditioning and skill development.

Do I need experience to start?

    +

No experience required. Most of our students walked in having never thrown a kick. The Songahm curriculum is designed to take complete beginners and move them forward one clear step at a time.

    Do you compete in tournaments?

    +

Yes. Transform students compete in ATA tournaments, and Brooke Bairos is an ATA World Champion title holder and A-Level tournament host. Competition is always optional - many students train purely for fitness, confidence, and self-defense.
